12TH MAN ON THE FIELD. FALCOHOLICS LETS BRING THE NOISE   !!!!!!!!!!

During the 2001 season, a few co-workers decided to invite some friends out to a parking lot on a Sunday afternoon. This wasn’t any ordinary parking lot this was a tailgate parking lot for the Atlanta Falcons. This tailgate consisted of 1 card table, 4 chairs, 1 cooler, 1 deep fryer, 1 prep table and a 13” color TV. Andre now known as “Dre” was the organizer of this first gathering. As he was cooking fish, he was approached by a gentleman asking if he could buy a fish plate. With “Dre” being the hustle man he is, 2 pc of Whiting Fish w/fries was sold for $5.00. “Dre” looked at Chris, his co-worker at the time now known as “Dipology” and said we need to look into this. Before the two could celebrate on making $5.00 4 more guys were asking for a fish plate. Low and behold the 2 spent most of the morning prepping and cooking fish. While “Dre” and “Dipology” continued cooking and collecting money, a smooth laid back gentleman
named Perry now known as “Master P” was entertaining the guest or should I say lady friends. This day would mold the little tailgate into what is now known as “THE FALCOHOLICS” tailgate crew.

The next morning at work “Dre” and “Dipology” sat back and thought about how much money they could make along with having fun. The conversations went from the number of people to invite to what SIAC and SWAC college football games to attend. These guys had an imagination Bugs Bunny couldn’t keep up with. There was one problem, “Dre” had season tickets and “Dipology” and “Master P” did not have season tickets.
The trio was in for some luck; in 2003 a man by the name of Arthur Blank bought the Atlanta Falcons and cut season tickets to $100 per ticket. On top of that “Dre” found a perfect parking lot much closer than the original lot; this new lot can be found on the corner of Northside and Magnolia. This lot had it all, perfect access to the train, less than 500 feet from the Dome, season parking spaces and they allowed tailgating.

The trio of Dre, Dipology and Master P has come a long way. They now have a permanent following of about 30-40 people, cooking supplies now consist of 3 deep fryers, 2 charcoal grill, microwave, blender, 1 propane grill, 2 Falcons tents, 2 pickup trucks, 31’ RV, 2 card tables, 2 supply crates, 3 coolers, multiple chairs, serving table and Stereo w/generator. I almost forgot, they have there own personal garbage man known as
“TUSKEGEE”.

THE FALCOHOLICS tailgate every home game starting 5 hours before each home game and returning for at least 2 hours after the game. The core menu stays the same with grits, eggs and sausage for breakfast, and hotdogs and fish for lunch. The main course changes weekly depending on who the Falcons play. New Orleans always gets fish/fries, low country boil and red beans and rice.

Due to the male testosterone in the crew, 1 home game is dedicated to males only. This is a game where the guys don’t have to worry about offending any females and just be guys.

At least 1 away game is planned per year; the away game is based on location and time of year. So far trips have been made to Kansas City, New Orleans, Carolina, Tampa and Miami.
